Grey wrap on an Audi e-tron GT - Aura Vinyl

Grey wrap on an Audi e-tron GT

This installation features a grey finish vinyl wrap applied to an Audi e-tron GT. The video demonstrates the proper technique for relieving trapped air pockets and smoothing out soft wrinkles along a vehicle fender.

Fixing Air Pockets

When laying vinyl wrap on a curved fender, large bubbles of air can easily form under the panel. Forcing the air down will only cause the material to wrinkle. Instead, gently pick up the edge of the wrap so the trapped air has a clear path to escape. Once the edge is lifted, overlap your thumb strokes and continue pressing out the air evenly across the surface.

Removing Soft Wrinkles

To remove a soft wrinkle in the vinyl, hold a small amount of tension on the film while working your way across the section. Keeping steady tension helps the material lay flat without creasing. Continue your passes until the surface is completely flat and smooth.

Aura Vinyl wrap uses a cast polymer hybrid construction with German-made adhesive and a PET-backed finish for easy repositioning and fewer glue lines during installation.

FAQ

How do you fix a large air pocket when installing vinyl wrap?

Pick up the edge of the film to give the trapped air a place to go. Do not try to force the air pocket down directly, or it will create wrinkles.

How do you remove a soft wrinkle during a wrap installation?

Hold a small amount of tension on the material and keep working forward. Overlap your thumb strokes to work out the air smoothly and evenly.
