Grey wrap on a Land Rover Range Rover Sport - Aura Vinyl

Grey wrap on a Land Rover Range Rover Sport

This install features a grey vinyl wrap with a PET-backed finish on a 2014 to 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The video demonstrates how to detail around a side vent trim piece on the front fender when the part cannot be removed from the vehicle.

Wrapping Around Fender Trim

When a trim piece cannot be removed, tape it off first to protect the surface underneath. The installer starts by heating and holding up the material, then glasses the vinyl underneath the hood. After securing the film under the hood line, lock the material down around the perimeter of the trim piece.

Next, make relief cuts directly over the taped trim. Use light, controlled pressure so the blade does not cut through the protective tape. Cut the shape slightly smaller than the trim piece to leave enough film for tucking, then remove the excess vinyl from the center.

Tucking and Trimming

Take the firm hard edge of a squeegee and tuck the vinyl into the recess as far as possible. Because the channel is shallow, cut along the edge all the way around the trim piece. Make sure the vinyl is fully tucked into the seam so there are no short spots showing the original paint.

Aura Vinyl vinyl wrap features a cast polymer hybrid construction with German-made adhesive to help installers achieve clean edges and avoid glue lines.

FAQ

How do you wrap around car trim that cannot be removed?

Apply tape over the trim piece to protect the surface from blade cuts. Lay the film over the area, cut out the center slightly smaller than the trim opening, and tuck the edges into the recess using a squeegee.

How do you prevent short spots when wrapping trim edges?

Cut the material slightly smaller than the trim so you retain enough film to work with. Tuck the vinyl fully into the recess with the hard edge of a squeegee before trimming the final perimeter.

What adhesive does Aura Vinyl wrap use?

Aura Vinyl wrap features German-made adhesive designed for pliability, repositioning, and fewer glue lines.
