This tutorial shows a vinyl wrap installation on the hood of a white Audi A4. The video demonstrates how to work vinyl across a hood without forcing squeegee strokes through wrinkles.
Proper Glassing and Air Management
A beginner might finish one side of a hood and immediately try to squeegee down the other side. Fighting wrinkles and air pockets directly can lead to install issues. The installer shows that picking the material up and reglassing it creates a flat surface with a much higher chance of success.
During the installation, overlapping squeegee strokes from top to bottom is not always possible. Instead, push smaller bubbles together into larger air pockets. Once those pockets form, you can lift the film again and glass it out to remove soft wrinkles.
Working Out Stubborn Wrinkles
When squeegeeing down the film, work in the direction that air pockets naturally flow so the trapped air can escape. For stubborn, hard wrinkles, lift the vinyl, apply heat, and glass the sheet back down over the hood surface. Squeegee out the remaining air and repeat this process across the rest of the panel.
Aura Vinyl vinyl wrap features a cast polymer hybrid construction with German adhesive and a PET-backed finish designed for repositioning and smooth application.
FAQ
How do you fix stubborn wrinkles when wrapping a hood?
Lift the vinyl wrap off the panel, apply heat, and glass the material back out over the surface.
Why should you glass vinyl wrap instead of squeegeeing wrinkles?
Squeegeeing directly into wrinkles can trap air pockets and cause install failures. Lifting the vinyl and reglassing it relaxes soft wrinkles and lets trapped air escape naturally.
