Glue lines usually come from two habits. This video on a silver 2003-2007 Honda Accord shows both, and what to do instead so the film goes down clean.
Never do this
- Heat the material and squeegee at the same time. It sounds unlikely, but it happens.
- Lift the material back up after you have fully squeegeed it down. That is what creates glue lines.
Do this instead
- Squeegee the material out at room temperature with overlapping, consistent strokes.
- Glass the material out in the correct position before you start squeegeeing, so you never need to lift it again.
- Take your time on the glass. Once it sits right, the squeegee work is the easy part.
Aura Vinyl is a cast polymer hybrid film with German-made adhesive, made for pliability, repositioning and fewer glue lines, which gives you more room to fix your position before you squeegee.
FAQ
What causes glue lines when wrapping a car?
Glue lines happen when you heat the material and squeegee at the same time, or when you lift the vinyl after it has been fully squeegeed down.
How do you prevent glue lines during vinyl wrap installation?
Glass out the material in the correct position before squeegeeing. Always squeegee the film at room temperature with overlapping, consistent strokes.
