About White Vinyl Wraps for Cars

White wraps go well beyond a single bright white. Aura Vinyl’s White Vinyl Wrap collection includes solid white in every finish, warmer off-whites like Ivory, Cream and Bone White, pearl and paint-metallic whites, white iridescent and prismatic chrome, and white color-shift films that turn blue, red, gold, purple or green in the light. For a clean, factory-white look, start with Gloss White or Ultra Gloss White. Both have a PET liner for a smooth finish, and Ultra Gloss adds a perfect, orange-peel-free surface and a self-healing top coat. Satin White and Matte White cut the reflections for a softer look that shows off body lines without the mirror effect of gloss.

Not every white is pure white. Ultra Gloss Ivory, Ultra Gloss Bone White, Gloss Cream and Matte Cream are warmer off-whites, closer to the creams on vintage cars. Pearl and paint-metallic whites, including Gloss Pearl White, Gloss Paint Metallic Pearl White, Snow White and Shell White, add a fine shimmer in direct light, much like the pearl white paint on many new cars.

For more effect, Gloss, Satin and Ultra Gloss Iridescent White add a multicolored sheen, Ultra Gloss White Prismatic Chrome and Ultra Satin White Prismatic Chrome give a rainbow reflection, and diamond whites such as Satin Diamond White and Gloss Diamond Sparkle White add sparkle. White shift films, among them Gloss White Blue Shift, Gloss White Gold Shift and Gloss White Lavender Shift, look white in the shade and show their second color as the light changes.

White makes the edges of a wrap easier to see. On a dark car, door jambs, panel gaps and trimmed edges will contrast with the film, so decide how far into the jambs you’ll wrap before you order, and add length if you plan to do them.

Aura’s vinyl comes in 5-foot-wide rolls in 58 ft, 68 ft and 78 ft lengths, and white Hyper PPF in 5 ft × 56 ft rolls with 66 ft, 76 ft and 84 ft options. Whites look surprisingly different from one another side by side, so a swatch book is worth ordering first.

What is the difference between Gloss White, Pearl White and Ultra Gloss White?

Gloss White is a solid, bright white. Pearl White adds a fine pearlescent shimmer that shows in direct light. Ultra Gloss White is a solid white on Aura’s Ultra Gloss film, which has a perfect, orange-peel-free surface and a self-healing top coat, so it looks closest to fresh paint.

Which white wraps are warmer or off-white?

Ultra Gloss Ivory, Ultra Gloss Bone White, Gloss Cream and Matte Cream are the warmer options, and Hyper Gloss Ivory PPF and Hyper Gloss Cream PPF do the same in paint protection film. They’re a good fit when bright white would look too stark, for example on a classic car.

Can I wrap a dark car white?

Yes, but plan for the edges. Wherever the film stops, such as door jambs, panel gaps, handles and trim, the original color can show, and the contrast is strongest with white over dark paint. Wrapping into the jambs or removing trim to tuck the edges hides this but uses more film, so order a longer roll if you plan to.

Is white vinyl hard to keep clean?

White shows road grime, tar and brake dust more than mid-tone colors, so it needs regular washing. Use wrap-safe products, and avoid wax, polish and hard scrubbing on matte and satin whites, which can leave uneven shiny patches.

Which white wraps change color?

Gloss White Blue Shift, Gloss White Red Shift, Gloss White Gold Shift, Gloss White Lavender Shift and their Satin versions look white in the shade and show a second color in direct light. Diamond versions such as Gloss Diamond White Purple Shift, Gloss Diamond White Green Shift and Ultra Gloss Diamond White Blue Shift add sparkle, and Aurora Pearl Shift comes in Gloss, Satin and Ultra Gloss.

How much white vinyl wrap should I order?

Aura’s vinyl rolls are 5 feet wide and come in 58 ft, 68 ft and 78 ft lengths. 58 ft generally covers coupes, most sedans and Teslas; 68 ft suits larger sedans and crossovers; and 78 ft is meant for large SUVs and pickup trucks. If you’re wrapping door jambs, which matters more with white, go a size up.

Is there white paint protection film?

Yes.
