Wrap Longevity and Proper Care
Per Aura's FAQ, well-maintained vinyl is expected to last 3â5 years when washed at least twice per month with vinyl-safe care products, is not constantly exposed to the sun, and has been ceramic coated after install. Every order includes care instructions; the full guide is at Long-Term Care Instructions.
Sun exposure is the main factor in durability. Aura recommends applying its ceramic coating product before the wrap ever sees the sun â it provides two years of UV protection and makes the surface hydrophobic so contaminants are less likely to stick.
Why some wraps fail early
Aura's warranty page states that the most common cause of premature vinyl wear is improper maintenance. Fading, staining, edge lift, or discoloration within the first year or two is almost always tied to skipped care â drive-through car washes, harsh or wax-containing soaps, neglected contaminants, or no ceramic coating â not a defective roll of film.
Care basics (from our long-term care guide)
- Hand wash at least every two weeks with vinyl-safe soap; never use drive-through car washes.
- Do not use carnauba wax, solvents, tire shine, household cleaners, or pH-aggressive car-wash soap.
- Apply Aura ceramic coating before the wrap is exposed to sun; use our Wrap Care products.
- Remove bird droppings, tree sap, and road grime promptly.
- Store or park out of direct sun when possible.
- Proof of ceramic coating and following care instructions is required for warranty discoloration claims â see Warranty.
